剧情：
富士山下的小村庄正在进行热闹的祭典，突如其来的山火却让人们陷入恐慌之中，而天文学家白石良一（平田昭彦饰）则在混乱中失踪。不久，当地发生滑坡、天坑等离奇事件，更有一个巨大、恐怖的机器人出现，对周遭城镇进行大肆破坏。白石的朋友渥美让治（佐原健二饰）和安达谦治郎博士（志村喬饰）随同军队前往当地调查，意外遭遇外星人的球形基地，并受到对方的邀请。外星人声称很久以前他们的星球因核战而毁灭，幸存者在宇宙间流浪寻找合适的栖息地。他们希望地球人开辟半径为3公里的土地给外星人居住，并准许他们和地球的女性通婚。人类对此表示拒绝，并组成地球防卫军和星外来客展开对抗…… 本片为东宝首部采用宽银幕的特摄作品。
剧情：
故事发生在第二次世界大战刚刚结束之际，卡罗尔（埃琳诺·帕克EleanorParker饰）和保罗（让-皮埃尔·奥蒙特Jean-PierreAumont饰）的外遇恋情被卡罗尔的丈夫沃尔特（比尔·特拉弗斯BillTravers饰）发现了，沃尔特给了卡罗尔两个选择，要么和他一起前往位于中国的一个非常偏僻的村庄之中，那里霍乱横行，要么就离婚。最终，卡罗尔在无奈之中和沃尔特一起上路了。 在中国，卡罗尔结识了自由不羁的提姆（乔治·桑德斯GeorgeSanders饰），并且通过他在修道院里谋了一份差事，卡罗尔和沃尔特之间的感情也随着时间的推移而渐渐修复，一切都看似在往井井有条的方向发展，可是，在这个节骨眼上，沃尔特染上瘟疫去世了，与此同时，卡罗尔发现自己怀孕了。
